The Next Chapter

Last Wednesday was the First Day of School for 2016-2017. No big deal. Except that it was a HUGE deal!

This is the first year that all three of my children are in school full-time. I haven’t had more than three hours to myself at home without at least one child around in over eight years. Now, my youngest is in Kindergarten (I still can’t believe it), all three of my kids are together at the same school and I suddenly have six hours a day to myself, plus another 30 minutes if you want to include the half hour I spend every day in the pick-up line at the school. I don’t even really know who I am anymore outside of raising my kids. What do I do with all this extra time I’ve now been gifted with?

I know I can use the time I’ll spend waiting in the car line to read, think and plan out my days. I’ll be able to run errands, kid-free, without freaking out about how little time I have to get everything accomplished before someone needs to be picked up. I’ll be able to clean the house, and keep it clean for more than a few hours before someone accidentally spills juice on the freshly steam-cleaned carpet (seriously kids, don’t bring your juice into the living room.) I might even find the time to lose all this extra weight I’ve gained over the years that I can no longer blame on having babies since my “babies” are all their own little persons now.

I guess I can also maybe BLOG like a real blogger now since I won’t have all the distractions I’ve had in the past, I still laugh at the fact that I once attempted to blog while in the midst of my three under three phase. It was hard enough back then just to get through the day! I’m honestly really looking forward to these years ahead, there are going to some great adventures in store for our little family and I’m glad I have a place to keep track of everything that happens.

Next month we are already planning a trip to take the kids to Disney World! It’s going to be their very first time going and they have no idea. This past year we had an annual pass to Legoland Florida and we’ve gone about 6 times, so when we head down towards Disney we are just going to play it off like we are going to Legoland again. I’m super excited about it and I’m sure they are going to be just as excited when they realize what is going on!

So Summer is on it’s way out, the kids are back in school. My mind is still somewhere on vacation but hopefully it will catch up to my body soon enough! I’m sure it will take a couple of weeks to get situated with our new version of ‘normal’ but I have faith we will get it figured out eventually. We kind of have to right?

Have your kids gone back to school yet?
Do you have anything fun planned in the upcoming months?
